Act well your part for those who love you, and those who don't will start loving you.
An unforgettable trip to Malang
(The state University of Malang)舉行的「第2屆國際人文與社會科學研討會」(The 2nd International Conference of Humanities and Social Sciences, ICHSS)。
From 20 to 24 September, 2018, I attended “The 2nd International Conference of Humanities and Social Sciences, ICHSS” taking place in the state University of Malang at the best city Malang in East Java. With friendships between Dayeh University and Universitas Negeri Malang, and the help of Prof. Weishen Wu and my friend Aji from Indonesia doing PhD program in Taiwan, I and Ollie Lin, a graduate student from Information Management of Dayeh University, eventually have had the opportunity participating in the conference (Fig. 1).
I was grateful to the warm and generous hospitality from the University of Malang, particularly from Vertic Eridani (Fig 1), my friend Aji’s wife teaching in the university. She has been accompanying us for five days experiencing meals there, meeting the dean and chairmen of Faculty of Economics and the conference, joining the lecture Prof. Wu gave UM freshmen titled the status of industry 4.0 in Taiwan on 21 (Fig 2, Prof. Wu photographed with Dr. Agus, Dean of Academic Affairs, Faculty of Economics), attending the keynotes speeches, touring the university and surrounding neighborhood on 22, and the most exciting time visiting Bromo volcano seeing the sunrise, shopping at Mal Olympic Garden and Java Dancer for Luwak coffee on 23, and returning to Taiwan on 24.
Malang won’t be the priority tourism for most people, in my first thought, unless for a special purpose. Nevertheless, I was much impressed by the experiences of 5 day in Malang believing that every corner of the world worth visiting originating from the long-lasting cognition in the humanities, that is the topic of the conference as well. If it is true that few people visit Malang, and the papers published were rarely referring to the humanities and social sciences for the NCSIST* , this travel article was then written.

Malang is located in East Java, a province of southern Indonesia, 90 km away from Surabaya, the capital of East Java, (Fig. 3, the lower part is Java’s map magnified). As for Jakarta, where the 2018 Asian Games was held and ended on Sep 2, is located on western Java. We flew Cathay Pacific in an Airbus A330-300 (33E), spending 2 hours to Hongkong for a transit, landing at Juanda Surabaya International Airport after 5-hour flight, where we were picked up in a luxury van UM well prepared and arrived at destination- Malang in 3 hours.
Munjin(圖四右), 及研討會論文主編Dr. Ashar(圖四左)。
On 21 Sep, we visited Dr. Agus, Dean of Academic Affairs, Faculty of Economics, Dr. Nasikn, Dean of Finance and Human Resource, and Dr. Munjin, Conference Chairman (Fig. 4 Right), and Dr. Ashar, the editor (Fig. 4 Left).
The State and Trends of Social Entrepreneurship in Taiwan”及來自日本The University of Kitakyushu, Prof. Hiroyuki Miyake的”The importance of ESD in 21st century”。
On 22 Sep, there were keynotes speeches prior to the conference, being novel and creative, particularly Prof. Wu’s “The state and trends of social entrepreneurship in Taiwan”, and ”The importance of ESD in 21st century” offered by Prof. Hiroyuki Miyake from University of Kitakyushu, Japan. In the afternoon, the conference began, the main parts of this travel entailing 8 topics, out of which I was grateful to Dr. Wu and Dr. Ashar for accepting my paper referring to knowledge management (KM) and categorized into the topic “Education for sustainable development”.
Different from averages Indonesia students mainly presenting development of education theory, I prepared contents in applied education relating to KM (as Appendix). Apart from paper presentation, I displayed NCSIST image video produced in 2017 for Paris air show《NCSIST image video》. All students were curious about NCSIST’s accomplishments in defense systems other than my article on KM.
Upon completion of the conference, Indonesia students were asking me photographed with them appearing enthusiastically to render me an instantaneous joy being surrounded like a hero or king that I’ve never experienced in my career. Subsequently, coming across an idea, to them I expressed my philosophy of life:
There is a Chinese saying says, “People seldom visit temples nearby.” And another says, “The Monk from far away prays better than those nearby.” I was much admired and loved by all of you, for I came from a place 7-hour flight away.
They listened to me and laughed for a long while saying what I said is true and hilarious.
On 23 Sep, at 00:00, we started on the way to Mount Bromo volcano, where the temperature was only 6 degrees, thus, Vertic was considerate to prepare winter hats and gloves for us. The journey took 3 hours split to two 1.5-hour routes, we took a van first and then a jeep drive, the engine sounded loudly along the way as if it’s likely to fail at any time; yes it did, but it’s recovered right away.
In the long run, we arrived at Mount Bromo. But, there needed one more route climbing and steep stairs to the crater rim and view spot. At that moment, visitors from around the world came along, and some ponies walked around, that I was wondering what they were for. We and Dr. Ashar, Dr. Munjin, Dr. Miyake from UM started walking with them. Alas, right after going for a while, I was feeling a little difficulty breathing and told Vertic. They suggested me to ride on a pony saving me having to walk. This is ponies used for that I wondered in the beginning, that made me the first horse riding in my life in Indonesia.
In ten more minutes, a spectacular Indonesia Mountain showed up appearing the stunning beauty lying in an incredible setting. Why human being should have been through lots of hardship in order to nestle in natural tranquility. At 5:13, the sun rose shining brightly with a different attitude and color from that of Ali Mt in Taiwan.
For the sake of safety, I thought I’d better have a horse ride downhill. I found the owner of the pony that I rode up and showed him the name card “NOTOK” he gave me, and nodded to let him know I needed another ride. In the end, I paid 250,000 to the pony owner. However, after Vertic knew that, she said sorry to me that the ride cost me 100,000 more, perhaps for I am a foreign visitor.
我對Vertic 說:沒關係,No money, NOTOK.(那匹馬的名字,諧音no talk)。 This is the first joke today。
I said to Vertic:Don’t put your mind to it, “No money, NOTOK.” (The name of the pony reads “no talk”). She laughed and said: This is the first joke today. I usually melt down the embarrassing atmosphere in a funny way. In addition, I said to Vertic: What’s more important is that Prof. Wu already knew I was all right.
Do in Indonesia as Indonesian do.

Vertic took us to go shopping at Mal Olympic Garden and Java Dancer for coffee that afternoon (Fig. 7). Do in Indonesia as the Indonesian do – I selected a shirt like those Professors wore these days (Fig.8). Meanwhile, I bought Luwak Coffee. I hope my friends visit at Room 201, Building 115 for a cup of it.
By the way, why the computer language JAVA was named really has something to do with JAVA, island of Indonesia. They said that when Sun Microsystems Inc. was discussing about naming the first computer language in a meeting, they were having Peet’s coffee, of which the coffee bean comes from JAVA, Indonesia.
On 24 Sep, at 3:00, we checked out of Swiss Belinn where we lived for 4 nights. Ollie Lin and I returned in reverse direction from Malang to Surabaya, Surabaya to Hongkong, Hongkong to Taiwan. With Ollie’s travel experience, we safely and happily came back to Taiwan at 18:00.
I told friends in Indonesia through Line:
It’s Mid-Autumn Festival today, August 15, by Chinese lunar calendar. When you look up to the sky, we will see the same full moon together.
Unforgettable seafood soup, Unforgettable Malang!

An Investigation on the Relationship between Knowledge Management and Knowledge Creation in Organizations Learning Process
Abstract – According to the investigation from related literatures, around 50% of knowledge management projects fail. It seems that many well-known KM models don’t provide the appropriate approaches to the execution on knowledge management, and not give the answers to the rate of failure. The paper emphasizes that, to successfully implement knowledge management (KM), it is helpful to first deal with the willingness of personnel to perform it in organizations. In addition, the study is to center on the relationship between knowledge management and knowledge creation. For many years, our institute of science and technology has achieved the knowledge transfer by conventional on-job-training. However, to adapt to the increasing prosperous technology progress, introducing the knowledge management is urgent day by day. An extensive literature review shows a clear trend in the critical success factors, which have taken into account if the KM is crucial to the knowledge creation during learning process. Based on the investigation for the employees, the paper is to find out the causes and consequences about implementing KM in the institute. Finally, it is worth noticing that corporate culture plays a dominant role for the implementation of knowledge management, and subsequently affects the knowledge creation among personnel and in the institute itself.

A Knowledge Management System Was Constructed while Implementing the Corresponding E-learning Processes
Abstract – Based on the demand-pull model, the jobs-to-be-done theory, the article is to construct a knowledge management system (KMS) while implementing the corresponding e-learning process for high-tech innovations. Toyota production system is well known for its pull concepts instead of push that eventually leads to product overstock. Similarly, when it comes to establishing a KMS taken as an import concept for some oriental enterprises, like in Taiwan, for a long time, the documenting-processing has been the beginning and the end of the work that simply form another library specifically for technology documents collection. For this reason, in-depth interviews were conducted over aerospace related sectors such as AIDC, NCSIST of Taiwan* from a customer’s viewpoints to construct a KMS while implementing corresponding e-learning processes that are the jobs to be done for the progress and innovation of organizations. Meanwhile, what’s the behavior of knowledge inheritance has been like for the long past to the organizttions or the causes of their discontinuing on that were investiagted as well. As the demand-pull model suggested, after an e-learning process was completed, the contents were stored, and by which the corresponding KMS was accordingly constructed. The integration of KMS and the e-learning process completed was then quickly analyzed and verified as a required, effective, efficient, and durable framework, named Reed framework, as needed.
