Those of us who were members of the United States Air Force and were privileged to meet and serve with the ROCAF pilots during their training in the U-2 aircraft, are honored to recognize their great contributions to the maintenance of peace in a troubled world. Our association was one of great respect and pride in acknowledging the danger and challenges of their mission, and the dedication they displayed in performing that mission. Our friendships were deep and rewarding and have lasted throughout our respective lives.

美國空軍那批參與U-2偵察機團隊的成員們，在受訓期間，有幸和中國空軍飛行員一起服役；在動盪不安的世界中，他們為維持和平所做的偉大貢獻，深受肯定。我們懷念他們，是表達對他們執行甚具危險與挑戰性任務及其奉獻精神的尊敬與驕傲。我們的友誼深厚，值得珍惜，並長留我們心中。

The passing of Gen Hua, in particular, is a loss felt by the entire U-2 community. He was a pilot of great skill and courage as demonstrated by his performance when a U-2 he was flying had an engine failure at night over the rugged Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Though the engine could not be restarted, he refused to bail out and let this valuable airplane crash. Instead, he bravely glided the vehicle through heavy weather and between tall mountains to land it on a small civilian airfield thereby saving his own life and a very valuable airplane.

華將軍的辭世，是U-2團隊無比的損失。華將軍是一位英勇、偉大的飛機駕駛員。有次在黑夜，華將軍駕U-2飛行於美國科羅拉多崎嶇山區上空，引擎熄火而無法再起動。此時，華將軍展現其高超的駕駛技術，不但沒有跳脫，讓飛機墜毀；反而，在惡劣的天候下及高山間，華將軍勇敢地將飛機滑翔降落在一個民間小機場，挽救了自己的性命和寶貴的飛機。

General Hua was a dedicated officer, an excellent pilot and a great friend of all Dragon Lady U-2 pilots. It was a great pleasure to have also met Gen Hua’s lovely wife during our reunions and to know that he was blessed to have such a wonderful life partner.

華將軍是一個全心奉獻的軍官，優秀的飛行員，也是「蛟龍夫人U-2」偵察機所有飛行員的摯友。更榮幸的是，我們聚會時，見到秀麗的華夫人，我們都祝福他擁有如此美好的終身伴侶。

We salute all members of the Black Cat squadron and their families and wish them peace and prosperity in the years to come.

我們向黑貓中隊的所有成員及其家人致敬，祝福他們年年平安富裕。

追憶華上將

瑞釗兄：新年平安！

(1) 謝謝傳來華上將紀念文，這篇充滿感恩的紀念文，記錄了華先生，在我們人生最精華的階段，帶領我們奮鬥的過程及生活點滴，讀來華先生宛如還在我們身邊，和藹地向我們招手微笑。

(2) 鯤鵬的故事詳實的記述了鯤鵬渦扇引擎發展的過程，為中科院航空研究所，留下了珍貴的史料。

(3) 華錫鈞上將是中國航空界一代傳奇偉人，正光於1971年9月由美國奧克拉荷馬大學航空系碩士班畢業後，回國即到航空研究院設計室向華先生報到，被分派到空氣動力學組，就此在華博士的指導培育下，開始了我的航空研究生涯。後來於1975年，在華博士的推薦下，到美史丹佛大學進修博士，為此至今仍深深地感恩在心頭。

(4) 在我們一生最關鍵的時刻，能遇到貴人，是上帝的恩賜。華先生是我們的良師，我們的益友，是我們ㄧ生難遇的人格典範，如今哲人已離我們而去，獨留無限的追思與懷念。

He is a great man.
His love will endure forever.
His righteousness and faithfulness will
continue through all generations.

Dr. Hua, we love you.
We miss you very much.
